Town Council Approves New Official Town Logo for Town of Mammoth Lakes
The Town of Mammoth Lakes has been using its current logo since 2011 as a brand to market the Town and to represent the Town of Mammoth Lakes as a municipal entity.
After 14 years of use, the Mammoth Lakes Town Council formally adopted a new official Town of Mammoth Lakes logo on February 19, 2025.
The current logo has been very successful at marketing and branding Mammoth Lakes led by Mammoth Lakes Tourism. The distinctive blue and white logo is broadly distributed both regionally and globally and seen on branded merchandise, visitor guides, stickers and business cards, to name a few.
The reason for the change stated Assistant to the Town Manager, Pam Kobylarz, was that “The Town’s Municipal Code has very specific requirements for the use and distribution of the Town name and logo, and the current Mammoth Lakes logo doesn’t meet those requirements since it’s so publicly accessible.” The Town of Mammoth Lakes needed a logo that could represent the authority of the Town and is limited in its distribution.
The process to create the new official Town Logo began with Town Council direction in the fall of 2023. Town staff established a committee made up of staff, Town Council members, and Mammoth Lakes Tourism staff who worked with Mammoth Lakes Creative to develop multiple iterations of the design to get to the final product that is both consistent with existing Town branding and complementary to the existing Mammoth Lakes marketing logo.
The Town will implement the new official Town logo in several phases. The first phase will include use across several mediums including, but not limited to Town Council chamber signage, Town vehicles, letterhead, business cards, brochures, the Town website, social media pages, staff uniforms, official correspondence from the Town and Press Releases/Public Service Announcements.
The existing Mammoth Lakes marketing logo will continue to be used by the Town for a variety of reasons including on public-facing signage and at the Community Recreation Center. The Mammoth Lakes logo will continue to serve as the marketing logo for the entire Town.
