Bishop Community Christmas Celebrations Set for December 4–5, 2026
BISHOP, Calif. — With the holiday season approaching, the Bishop Chamber of Commerce is preparing for a festive lineup of community Christmas traditions in Bishop. This year’s schedule includes a few changes, and organizers are sharing the details early so residents, visitors, businesses, and parade participants can plan ahead.
Night of Lights Returns Friday, December 4
Back by popular demand, Night of Lights will take place Friday, December 4, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Downtown merchants and restaurants are encouraged to stay open late, deck out their businesses in holiday décor, and offer seasonal specials.
The evening will feature parking lot parties, fire pits, and plenty of holiday cheer throughout downtown. The City of Bishop will host the official Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6 p.m. at Talmage Park, next to Amigos Restaurant.
Community Christmas Parade Moves to Saturday Morning
The Bishop Community Christmas Parade will take place Saturday, December 5, at 10 a.m.
“We heard from many past parade participants, spectators and business owners that they’d like to return to a daytime event,” said April Kress, event coordinator for the Bishop Chamber of Commerce.
The 2026 parade theme is “A Very Sierra Christmas.” Entry forms are available at the Bishop Chamber of Commerce office, located at 218-A South Main Street. Forms can also be downloaded and printed from www.bishopchamberofcommerce.com
Following the parade, the community is invited to continue the festivities at Bishop City Park. Visitors can browse the vendor market and stop by the park gazebo to visit Santa Claus. The market will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 5.
Railroad Express Returns to Laws Museum December 12
The holiday fun continues the following weekend with the return of Railroad Express at Laws Museum on Saturday, December 12.
This full day of family-friendly activities will include train rides, craft-making, free books provided by Altrusa, refreshments, and visits with Santa Claus and Smokey Bear.
“We are very grateful for the partnership and support of many businesses, agencies, and individuals that make Christmas so special in Bishop,” said Tawni Thomson, executive director of the Bishop Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber encourages the community to join in the celebrations and support the local businesses, organizations, and volunteers who help make Bishop’s holiday traditions possible.
