Recreational Advisory at Crowley Lake Remains in Effect due to a Harmful Algal Bloom
MONO COUNTY ALERT (UPDATE): Recreational Advisory at Crowley Lake Remains in Effect due to a Harmful Algal Bloom
(06/28/23) – Last week, the State Water Resources Control Board and Mono County urged fisherman and recreational users to exercise caution when recreating at Crowley Lake following visual signs of Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs). The “Caution” advisory was recommended based on visual indicators of an HAB, and toxin testing was initiated to determine the threat to public health.
Those test results have been received, and the “Caution” advisory remains in place. Crowley Lake remains in a recreational advisory of “CAUTION” to alert lake users of the elevated risk. Recreators are encouraged to follow the below guidance until further notice.
It is also always recommended that the public practice healthy water habits when recreating in a waterbody with a suspected bloom.
