CalTrans to Close State Route 270 Ahead of Incoming Storm

MONO COUNTY — Caltrans District 9 will close State Route 270 (Bodie Road) on Sunday, December 12 at 8:00 pm in advance of the incoming snowstorm. The road will be assessed by Maintenance crews after the storm for reopening.
In addition to State Route 270 (Bodie Road), the following routes and safety roadside rest areas will close this weekend.
Closing on Saturday:
·        State Route 120 E (Mono Mills Road) at noon.
·        State Route 158 N (North June Lake Loop) at 4:00 pm.
Closing on Sunday:
·        Crestview Safety Roadside Rest Area at 9:00 am.
Several District 9 highways remain in a storm closure:
·        State Route 89 (Monitor Pass)
·        State Route 108 (Sonora Pass)
·        State Route 120 W to Yosemite National Park
·        State Route 168 W at Aspendell (Bishop Creek)
Caltrans would like to remind motorists to prepare for snowy and icy driving conditions during the winter. Any vehicles traveling to higher elevations must have traction control devices, such as snow chains, on-hand for the chain control restrictions that are common this time of year. Motorists should also pack a snow duster to remove any snow that accumulates on top of their vehicle and check their windshield wipers to ensure they’re in good condition and ready for stormy weather.
