JV Mathletes Come in Second at Rosamond

The Bishop JV Mathletes placed second against five other schools on January 21, 2026. They scored a total of 28 points, putting them just two points behind Silver Valley with 30 points. Home team Rosamond netted 17 points.

In addition to doing well as a team, Bishop was also awarded six individual ribbons. Banyan Fulkerson received second place with 7 points, Santi Lopez and Tulika Deb tied for third place with 6 points, and Eddy Chavez, Julia Hoang, and Brady Johnson got fourth place with 5 points. Bishop boasted the largest JV showing, with Kevin Rivas, Cynthia Chavez, Nelson Mendiola, Roberto Reyes, Brandon Walters, Meika Borow, Kaitlyn Girardin, Hazel Hays, Liam Livingston, and Cosmo Schwartz all participating in the event.

Are you as smart as a mathlete? Try to solve this problem from the meet:

How much water should be added to 1 gallon of pure antifreeze to obtain a solution that is 80% antifreeze?

Coach DeeDee Buchholz appreciates the hard work and dedication of each Mathlete. She also would like to thank LADWP for their Adopt-A-School partnership again this year, which helps to provide team lunches, practices, jerseys and other cool stuff that the Mathletes get to enjoy. “One more Meet to go JV and I know you can bring home the Championship title for Bishop!” says Coach Buchholz. The last Meet of the year for JV is at Desert High School on 2/18/26.
