Town Receives $38 Million California Housing Accelerator Award!
On February 3, 2022, Governor Newsom announced more than $923 million in awards for affordable housing projects across California as part of the California Housing Accelerator, a $1.75 billion investment to provide bridge funding to shovel-ready projects that were otherwise unable to begin construction because of a shortage of federal tax credits and bonds. Pacific West Communities, Inc. was awarded $38,656,617 for Phase 1 of The Parcel Affordable Housing Project. Under the California Housing Accelerator program, affordable housing projects get the funds they need to break ground, creating much-needed housing for those most in need. The Housing Accelerator prioritizes projects for those experiencing homelessness and for those below 30 percent of the Area Median Income. Learn more about The Parcel and read the Press Release.

Mammoth Lakes Police Department Reminds All Visitors and Residents to Follow Town Parking Laws
Mammoth Lakes is experiencing record visitation, which is impacting available parking, especially near busy ski lifts areas such as Canyon Lodge and The Village at Mammoth. Parking Enforcement Officers are patrolling and issuing citations daily. You can avoid receiving a parking citation by:
- Not parking at the Lakes Basin’s closed gate at the east end of Lake Mary Rd. unless all 4 of your tires are on dirt/off pavement. Alternatives to accessing recreation in the Lakes Basin during the winter might be taking the Orange Line Shuttle Bus or having someone drop you off. Parking illegally at this gate also impedes emergency vehicle access.
- Not parking in the “No Parking Zones” on Highway 203, Minaret Rd., Meridian Blvd. near Eagle Lodge and on Hillside Dr., Rainbow Ln., Lakeview Blvd., and Davison Rd. near Canyon Lodge and The Village at Mammoth.
- Leaving the “Handicap” spaces for drivers with Disabled Person Parking Placards and Plates.
- Parking facing the correct direction of travel.
- Only parking in designated spaces while at Shady Rest Park.
- Not blocking fire hydrants or fire lanes.

Please Leash and Pick-up After Your Dog
The Mammoth Lakes Police Department has again increased education and enforcement efforts in high-use areas within the Town’s Municipal Boundary. These areas include our many parks, multi-use paths and developed recreation areas, such as Shady Rest Park. Click on the interactive map to view these high-use areas. “We have always had a leash law, typical of most cities in our state,” stated Chief Davis. “The goal of enforcement is to gain compliance. Enforcement can be as simple as a friendly warning or may escalate to a citation, just like all the other laws we enforce.” Read More…

Be SnowSmart this Winter!
Be SnowSmart in Mammoth Lakes by following a few simple winter safety tips. During heavy snowfall, please stay off the roads to let our snow removal operators clear the roads and sidewalks. Don’t put on chains when you have to – put on chains before you need them. Stopping in roadways is dangerous and is to be avoided. We recommend you park your vehicle (off the roadway and behind the orange snow stakes) and take the bus. The FREE Red Line operates 7-days a week from 7:00am until 5:30pm with service from Snowcreek Athletic Club to the Mammoth Mountain Main Lodge. The Town clears several miles of sidewalks for your safety. Do not walk on the streets with vehicles and plows as they will have trouble seeing you and do not walk in-front of snow removal equipment. Click here to learn more and call 800-427-ROAD for current chain control restrictions or road conditions, listen to KMMT 106.5, Sierra Wave 92.5 or KIBS 100.7 or look for chain control signs throughout town.
