Join Cerro Coso and the ESSBRC for a Recreation, Fire, and Forestry Careers Info Session
Cerro Coso Community College, in partnership with the Eastern Sierra Small Business Resource Center (ESSBRC), invites community members, employers, and prospective students to attend an upcoming Recreation, Fire, and Forestry Careers Info Session designed to connect education, workforce, and opportunity.
This event will be held at 269 N. Main Street, Bishop, CA, on December 17 at 6:00 PM (a virtual option for this session will also be available) and again on January 15 at 3:00 PM. The event aims to introduce attendees to career and academic pathways in Wildland Fire, Forestry, and Outdoor Recreation, while also providing information on how to launch a small business or find skilled employees in these growing industries.
“We’ve never had this kind of opportunity before,” said Dr. Peter Fulks, Public Services Department Chair at Cerro Coso. “Cerro Coso’s new Fire, Forestry, and Outdoor Recreation pathways are going to help with job placement in Bishop and Mammoth next summer.”
The info sessions will feature career speakers, small business support resources, and program information on courses that align with industry-recognized certifications, as well as spring enrollment opportunities. Both students and local employers are encouraged to participate to learn how Cerro Coso’s programs support economic development and workforce needs across the Eastern Sierra region.
These fields offer rewarding careers that combine environmental stewardship, outdoor leadership, and public service. Attendees will also gain insight into internships, hands-on learning opportunities, and career advancement in forestry, fire management, and recreation.
In-person attendees can connect directly with program faculty and community partners, while virtual attendees can participate via Zoom.
