What are your winter neighbors up to in the Eastern Sierra?

What are your winter neighbors up to in the Eastern Sierra?
Greetings!
As fresh snows settle over the Sierra Nevada again, some of us may settle into a quieter winter rhythm. Maybe we retreat to the warmth of our homes more, or pull on extra layers before going outside to enjoy the splendor of our wonderful surroundings.
But our wild neighbors on these lands stay busy. Surviving winter is a full-time job. Consider the mule deer.
Right now, the Round Valley mule deer herd is settling into its winter range on the valley floor. In spring, they navigate a massive journey between these winter grounds and the alpine meadows in the mountains. Come next fall, they migrate back to their winter grounds.

Their migration continues safely because of conservation supporters like you. On behalf of the ESLT team and the wildlife that call this valley home, thank you for showing up for your neighbors this winter.
As you enjoy your winter, and if you are migrating through Bishop, don’t hesitate to reach out and say hello. Like mule deer, we appreciate our surroundings and the people that are part of the work we do and the communities we support.
Thank you.
In gratitude,
Mark Drew
Executive Director

In the News! Gardeners swap seeds, ideas, and resources over the weekend.

What a fantastic turnout at the Seed Swap & Seed Germination workshop! Nearly 100 people gathered on a sunny Saturday morning to share seeds, ideas, winter gardening tips, and more. Thank you to all who participated in the fun.
We’re also grateful to our event partners, including the Bishop Paiute Tribe’s Food Sovereignty Program, the Owens Valley Paiute-Shoshone Cultural Center, the Bishop Branch Library of Inyo County, and the UC Master Gardeners of Inyo and Mono Counties.
