Bishop Broncos Varsity Girls Soccer Defeat Cal City in 7-0 Shutout
Bishop Union Broncos girls’ soccer traveled to California City to take on the Ravens in their first meeting of the season. Ellie Crall lead the team with three goals. Brook Taylor, Taylor Derr, Dulce Martinez, and Ashley Sandoval each scored one goal. Brooke Taylor lead the team in assist with three, Ashley Sandoval had to assist and Tatum Derr and Alyssa Buchholz each had one assist.
At the end of the first half the score was 7-0 in favor of the Bishop broncos. In the second half Bishop Broncos scored multiple goals that were called back due to offsides. The final score of the game was 7-0.
The Bishop lady Broncos are first in the high desert league with a record of 9-1 this season.
The Cal City Ravens exhibit a great sportsmanship throughout the match.
Coach Bill Dailey said in the first half the Broncos we’re consistently looking for the assist when players were approaching the opposing team’s net with the ball. It was apparent the drills that had been working on for the past two weeks were being applied to the game.
The player of the game goes to Jessica Santana for her defensive work, ball control, and field awareness.
The Bishop broncos soccer teams will take on Frazier Mountain Falcons today, Wednesday, January 14 at home on the John Schwab field. Girls will start at 3 o’clock and the boys will play at 6 o’clock. Come out and support your Bishop broncos soccer team.
