Mammoth Lakes Winter Storm Warning Update

The Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4:00 am Wednesday, January 11, 2023.  Mammoth Lakes can expect moderate-to-heavy snow today and this evening, leading to continued travel impacts. Except rapidly changing weather from good visibility to whiteout conditions within minutes. Additional snow accumulations of 4 to 10 inches along US HWY 395, with 1 to 3 feet above 7,500 feet and localized amounts up to 4 feet near the Sierra crest. Wind gusts up to 50 mph with ridgetop gusts in excess of 100 mph at times.

Looking Ahead

Additional snow showers may extend travel impacts over the Sierra on Wednesday. Otherwise, expect a good break Thursday and Friday across the region with dry conditions. A couple of storms will bring another round of Sierra snow this weekend into early next week. Anticipate holiday weekend travel impacts and delays for everyone heading here for the Martin Luther King Jr. long weekend.

Extreme Weather Alert

The Mono County Office of Emergency Management issued an EXTREME weather alert for Mono County at approximately 3:30pm on Monday, January 9, 2023.
