Town Council Meeting Action Items – September 6

  • Staff provided an update on The Parcel affordable housing construction project.
  • Town Council awarded a contract for the Dog Park & Mammoth Lakes Foundation Infrastructure Project to DG Construction, Inc.
  • Town Council authorized staff to move forward with development of a new logo for the Town of Mammoth Lakes.
  • Town Council authorized the Town Manager to unilaterally administer future contract changes relating to the Community Recreation Center (CRC) construction project.
  • Town Council approved a resolution to increase parking citation fines.

Mammoth Gran Fondo Traffic & Transit Advisory for September 9

  • The Mammoth Gran Fondo road bike ride hosted by the Mammoth Mountain Community Foundation (MMCF) will take place on Saturday, September 9 with over 1,500 cyclists expected to participate.
  • The start and finish line of this road bike ride are located in The Village on Canyon Blvd. As a result, a section of Canyon Blvd. between Lake Mary Rd. and Hillside Drive will be closed from 5:00am to 8:00pm. During this time frame, the bus stops in The Village on Canyon Blvd. will be inaccessible, which will impact several public transit routes.
  • MAMMOTH BIKE PARK SHUTTLE – NEW STOP: Pick-up/drop-off will be at stop #18 on Minaret Rd. across the street from Old New York Deli.
  • LAKES BASIN TROLLEY (ESTA) – NEW STOP: Pick-up/drop-off will be at the Village/Minaret stop in front of Toomey’s.
  • PURPLE LINE (ESTA) – NEW STOP: Pick-up/drop-off will be at the Village/Minaret stop in front of Toomey’s.
  • TOWN TROLLEY (ESTA) – NEW STOP: Pick-up/drop-off will be at stop #18 on Minaret Rd across the street from
  • Old New York Deli, as well as at the regular Village/Minaret stop in front of Toomey’s.

Reds Meadow Reconstruction Project Begins September 18 

  • The Reds Meadow Road construction project is scheduled to commence on Monday, September 18, 2023.
  • A Full Closure (emergency and administrative traffic only) will be in place Monday through Friday.
  • The road will open to the public on Saturday and Sunday ONLY.
  • All Forest Service campgrounds in Reds Meadow will close on Sunday, September 17, 2023.

Eastern Sierra Climate and Communities Resilience Project (Mammoth Donut) Timber Work Continues

  • Expect continued temporary closures of the Multi-Use Pathways (MUPs) in the Mammoth Creek Area.
  • Work continues on the Bell Shaped Parcel and should be completed in the next week.

  • As fall progresses, more work will occur in the Shady Rest and Lakes Basin areas.  More info will be relayed as we get it.
  • Please stay out of any areas where timber work is occurring, as tree felling is very dangerous.

 

Inyo National Forest releases proposed action for Over-Snow Vehicle Use (OSV)

The proposed action is currently available for a 45-day public scoping period. With this scoping notice, the Inyo National Forest would like to invite public comments regarding issues, opportunities, concerns, and suggestions for the proposed project. Please submit your comments on the project website.
