Positions in both permanent-seasonal and temporary wildland fire are entry-level GS-3 to GS-4 Forestry Aids and Technicians, opening on USAJobs.gov from January 2 – 24, 2024. Visit the Region 5 Wildland Firefighting webpage for more information and upcoming special events also in January, in both Redding and Sacramento. Expected start dates would be in late May or June 2024.

Non-fire temporary positions are also entry-level GS-4 to GS-7 and WG-3 to WG-5 and opening on USAJobs.gov from January 24 – February 7, 2024. Expected start dates will be in early July 2024.

Positions are available within all four ranger districts, so applicants should select anywhere they would be willing to work for Inyo National Forest (Lee Vining, Mammoth, Bishop and Lone Pine).

Once hired, employees can also more easily be re-hired if their term is a temporary appointment.

The Inyo National Forest is also hiring permanent positions in GIS, botany and hydrology. Please visit the Inyo National Forest’s Employment webpage for a complete list of positions available and their corresponding links to USAJobs.gov as they become available:
