Greetings Anglers!

Fall has mostly wrapped up in Mammoth Lakes, but what an exceptionally spectacular season it’s been. There’s still time to reel in a few more catches before November 15th when the more extensive fishing season transitions to year-round waters only. Winter is on the horizon and excitement is building for Mammoth Mountain’s Opening Day celebration on November 14th!

Weather Outlook:

Over the next several days Mammoth Lakes is forecast to have mostly-sunny skies and mild daytime highs in the mid to low-60s °F. Nighttime lows are predicted in the mid to high 30s °F— so dress warmly for evenings.

Toward the middle of next week patterns could shift, with cloud cover building and producing potential rain or mountain snow as day temps lower to the high 40s °F to mid 50s °F.

Fishing Conditions:

  • Hot Creek—Good
  • Upper Owens—Good
  • Lower Owens—Improving
  • East Walker—Very low water, fish elsewhere
  • Crowley Lake—Lake is clear and cold – Fish Camp is closed for the season but float tubing and shore fishing is still allowed until Nov. 15

Mammoth Lakes Tourism (MLT) has partnered with Clean Up The Lake (CUTL). Every dollar raised over the 4-year partnership (up to $100,000) will be matched by MLT to support ongoing stewardship. CUTL has already removed thousands of pounds of trash and fishing lines from the Mammoth Lakes region. Help us keep this program strong and consider donating.

Tangle Free Waters is a program designed to reduce and remove monofilament fishing line from Eastern Sierra waterways and keep it out of landfills by means of recycling. Fishing line gets caught around bushes, logs, and other shoreline and submerged obstacles—do your best to untangle and retrieve all the fishing line and dispose of it at a Tangle Free Waters station. Find a station map here.
