Over Snow Vehicle (OSV) Coffee with a District Ranger this Saturday
The third Coffee with a District Ranger is this Saturday, February 26 from 10:00-11:30am at the Bald Mountain Road/Deadman Summit Staging Area. This is the continuation of the collaborative outreach for Over Snow Vehicle (OSV) Planning. This is an informal opportunity to look at OSV use in the field. Town Council to Receive Report on Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce Work Program
On March 2, representatives from the Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce will provide the Council with an update on their current work program and ongoing efforts. The Town has an agreement with the Chamber to provide business related services and have continued to support a housing employee matching program. The term of the agreement is from July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2025. Compensation is set at a fixed amount of $300,000 per year. As part of their presentation the Chamber and Council may identify modified work program areas for next fiscal year and schedule a follow-up presentation for next year as needed. Town to Provide Quarterly TOT Enforcement Update to Town Council
The Town of Mammoth Lakes enforcement team will provide a formal presentation of enforcement efforts to Town Council on March 2 for the second quarter of FY2021-22. Information will include the following: 1) Statistical data including cases opened, citations issued, and revenue received, 2) Process Improvements implemented by the team and, 3) Team Goals. Town Council to Discuss Ormat Plowing and Related NEPA Requirements at Shady Rest
ORMAT has initiated road plowing in the Shady Rest area to provide access to facilities and other uses. The operations have impacted recreational activities in the area by limiting groomed routes for snowmobiling and other activities. The activity raised questions regarding the NEPA documentation requiring coordination and planning such activities with local agencies. While limited notice was provided, there was poor coordinated outreach to ensure recreational activities would not be negatively impacted and for necessary measures to be in place to provide safe recreational activities. Town Council will review and discuss the “Casa Diablo IV Geothermal Development Project Final Joint Environmental Impact Statement and Environmental Impact Report” to determine what specific mitigation measures can be implemented to ensure recreational activities are not negatively impacted in and around Shady Rest.
