MAMMOTH LAKES – The 5th Annual Mammoth Shakespeare Festival has taken center stage at Eagle Lodge, and audiences are raving. With only three performances left of the timeless classic Romeo and Juliet and the riotously funny A Midsummer Night’s Dream opening Tuesday, August 12, this is the summer theater event you don’t want to miss.

This year’s festival is a showcase of talent, pairing seasoned local favorites with an impressive wave of up-and-coming young performers. Romeo and Juliet features a cast of fresh-faced rising stars whose passion and skill more than hold their own alongside veterans of the Eastern Sierra stage. The result is an emotionally charged, beautifully staged production that has left audiences moved and talking long after the curtain falls.

On the comedic side, A Midsummer Night’s Dream boasts a “who’s who” of Mammoth Lakes comedy powerhouses: Maurice Cooper, Skylar Kinney, Michelle Dossey, Juliana Olinka, Tim Casey, Brenda Belaunzaran, Jeff Froeme, Kaytee Long Becker and Jesse Steele to name a few. Known for their razor-sharp timing and unforgettable stage presence, these actors deliver one of the funniest interpretations in the festival’s history. Early buzz calls it a laugh-out-loud triumph that’s sure to be remembered as a highlight of the summer.

Performances run Tuesday through Sunday, August 5–24, with a 6 p.m. pre-show and a 7 p.m. curtain at Eagle Lodge, 4000 Majestic Pines Drive.

For those looking to make it a night to remember, VIP tickets are available for $45, offering bottomless Prosecco, a cheese and fruit box, and prime seating closest to the stage. As always, general admission is a suggested $15 donation — but in true community spirit, no one is turned away for lack of funds.

Whether you’re a devoted Shakespeare fan or new to the Bard’s works, this year’s Mammoth Shakespeare Festival promises an unforgettable evening under the Eastern Sierra skies. As one theatergoer put it, “It’s world-class talent right here at home.”
