Spotlight On:
Round Valley Round-Up
As part of our ongoing series, we are interviewing people of interest in the area who are having a positive impact on our community.
This time, we talked with Lynne Greer from the Round Valley Round-Up!
1. Can you tell us exactly what the Round Valley Round-Up is?
The Round Valley Round-Up is an opportunity for community members to enjoy dinner, entertainment and dancing, on a real working cattle ranch. We will provide space for those who want to try their hand at roping, we will offer educational materials, and we will also have unique items for sale. Some of the most beautiful landscape in the valley will make for some memorable photos under the sunset of the Sierra Range. Most importantly it serves as a fundraising event for high school scholarships for students that are pursuing a degree in agriculture, as well as our continued efforts to promote and educate the public.
2. When did it start?
This is the first year we are making this unique experience available. We hope the Round Valley Round-Up will be incredibly successful and this will become an annual event.
3. One of the options includes a private ranch tour. What does that entail?
We are really looking forward to hosting the exclusive VIP tour. It will include a tour by Dr. Tom Talbot, ranch owner, and an environmental impact discussion with Laura Talbot and a guest speaker. As a VIP, they will tour the facilities, experience a hayride through the cattle, listen and ask questions, along with special appetizers and drinks, followed by dinner and entertainment.
4. What type of live music will you have at this year’s event?
We are excited to have Giacomo, who is lively and engaging, entertaining his audience with his unique contemporary, old rock, and country style music.
5. What do you see as the future for the Round Valley Round-Up and the Inyo-Mono Cattlewomen?
Agriculture is not optional. Therefore, we strive to close the gap between producer and consumer, educating them on our safe and sustainable practices that provide a healthy, nutrient dense protein for the diet. Round Valley Round-Up is one of the many ways the Inyo-Mono Cattlewomen are reaching our objective to engage in conversations.
The Round Valley Round-Up will be held on Saturday, September 28, 5:30 – 9pm PDT at 2180 Old Sherwin Road Bishop, CA 93514.
