New Chinese Restaurant Opening in Bishop!

Back in May of 2024, we here at Eastern Sierra Now broke the news that Imperial Gourmet Chinese was closing. Some people were sad, others said they expected it, and still others didn’t believe the story was real. (There’s one guy who still refuses to believe it: he can be seen from time to time standing in front of the empty building whispering “crispy fried pork noodles” to himself. The locals all know him.) Well, it was true. And they closed.

But fear not, because as I was getting my car detailed today (shoutout to Donnie’s Detailing, one of the most affordable car wash and detailing spots in the valley) I was walking by the old Chinese place and was invited in by a very nice gentleman named Bryant.

He told me that a new family had purchased the business, and it would soon reopen under the name Wonderland Chinese Restaurant. I’m reminded of a certain song, which then reminded me of the John Mayer vinyl collection/shrine I was forbid from touching the last time I was at our ad guy Stu’s house. The staff was very friendly and courteous, and when you visit you will see that there is a strong emphasis on customer service. Not much else is known, but I was told that they are looking to open sometime before Christmas. And yes, there will be lunch specials. I’m not sure about crispy fried pork noodles.
