County Seeks Input on Mendenhall Park Plans
Residents are encouraged to attend the next meeting of the Big Pine Community Association, where Inyo County officials will gather feedback on proposed improvements to Mendenhall Park.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10 in the Big Pine Town Hall. Supervisor Jen Roeser, Deputy County Administrator Meaghan McCamman Ostrander, and Parks Manager Daniel Briceno will be in attendance to request community feedback on a grant application submission to California State Parks’ Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program.
The program is making a total of $188.5 million available statewide, with grants ranging from $200,000 to $8.5 million per park.
“Community input is needed to enhance the grant application and your ideas are requested,” said Supervisor Roeser. “Recent improvements at Mendenhall Park can only be the tip of the iceberg with a successful grant application submission.”
County staff recently completed approximately $250,000 in improvements to the park, including new playground equipment. Additional plans for Mendenhall include a new gazebo, improved ADA access, a walking path, and shade cover.
Residents are strongly encouraged to attend the upcoming meeting, which comes with the opportunity to enjoy the Big Pine Community Association’s annual pumpkin pie contest.
