The 12th annual Mono County Poetry Out Loud competition produced in cooperation with the Mono Arts Council and Mammoth Lakes Repertory Theatre took place Friday February 4th at the Mono Arts Council Gallery space.
Yessenia Martinez – a 10th grade student at Lee Vining High School, Sophie McMahan – a 9th grade student at Mammoth High School and Catarino Reeve – an 11th grade student at Coleville High School each presented two poems to the judges and the receptive, intimate audience in accordance with the rules of the Poetry Out Loud competition.
All three young people did an excellent job, with Sophie McMahan delivering the winning presentation and moving on to the State competition.
