TOWN COUNCIL MEETING ACTION ITEMS FOR SEPTEMBER 16, 2026

8.1, Town Council received a presentation of the FY 2025/26 fourth quarter budget performance and approved the Town Manager recommended budget amendments.

NEW FRONT COUNTER HOURS FOR THE TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES OFFICES

Beginning on Monday, September 21, the front counter hours for the Town’s Administrative Office will be changing. The new hours will be Monday to Thursday from 7:30am to 5:30pm (with no closure for lunch). The Town hopes to better serve the public by opening earlier, staying open later, and remaining open through the lunch hour. The Town believes that these new extended hours will be especially beneficial to community members who have trouble coming in during regular business hours due to work, childcare, etc. The offices will be closed to the public on Fridays, but you are always welcome to request an appointment ahead of time with any employee or department you need to meet with on that day of the week. Please note that these new administrative office hours do not affect operating hours at the Community Recreation Center or the Mammoth Lakes Police Department. Please be patient as we make this transition. Our goal is always to serve the community better, and more efficiently!

UNITED AIRLINES NOW SERVING THE EASTERN SIERRA YEAR-ROUND

Mammoth Lakes Tourism (MLT), together with regional partners across the Eastern Sierra, announced that year-round service between Eastern Sierra Regional Airport (BIH), in Bishop and San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is officially underway. Four-season air service has been made possible through sustained collaboration among the Eastern Sierra Air Alliance (ESAA), a partnership of local government and government and tourism organizations that work to develop and sustain commercial air service across the Eastern Sierra. Current ESAA partners include Mammoth Lakes Tourism, the Town of Mammoth Lakes, Inyo County, Mammoth Resorts, the City of Bishop and the Bishop Chamber of Commerce. United Airlines now operates the route on a four-season schedule four days a week in spring and fall, and daily in summer and winter, following the airline’s shift from seasonal to year-round operation. This milestone reflects a coordinated effort among regional partners to expand travel connectivity to the Eastern Sierra. Flights are now available to book through United Airlines at united.com.

ENDURANCE SEASON IS HERE, MAMMOTH TUFF THIS WEEKEND!

This week’s endurance event is Mammoth Tuff! This UCI sanctioned gravel bike ride takes place Saturday, September 19, with more than 550 cyclists expected to participate. The start and finish lines of this bike ride are located in The Village on Canyon Blvd. As a result, a section of Canyon Blvd. between Lake Mary Road and Hillside Drive will be closed from 4:00am to 9:00pm. During this time frame, the bus stops in The Village on Canyon Blvd. will be inaccessible, which will impact several public transit routes. PARKS AND RECREATION MASTER PLAN COMMUNITY WORKSHOP ON SEPT. 23

The community is invited to review and comment on DRAFT recommendations for the Parks and Recreation Master Plan on Wednesday, September 23 from 6:00-7:30pm at the Community Center (1000 Forest Trail). Drop by this family-friendly workshop anytime between 6:00-7:30pm to review draft recommendations proposed to improve existing parks and explore opportunities to create new parks and recreation facilities. Spanish interpretation, light refreshments, and activities for children will be provided. Attendees will have a chance to win a Parks and Recreation $50 Gift Card or LA Kings Ice Rink passes!
