  • Work is progressing at the Community Recreation Center (CRC) for the public opening scheduled on November 24. The new large concrete deck and paving around the facility and inclusive playground was completed last week. Rubber flooring for the locker rooms/lobby restrooms was also completed along with the new dasherboard/glass, netting and player boxes. This week, locker/restroom fixtures, exterior windows and electrical fixtures are being installed, and the most exciting news, ice making operations are underway with assistance from the LA Kings and American Sports Entertainment Company (ASEC) personnel.

Reds Meadow Road Now Closed for Winter

  • With the scheduled removal of additional large trees from Reds Meadow before the impending winter snow, the Inyo National Forest has closed Reds Meadow Road for the winter season.
  • Contractors from the Whitebark Institute are removing trees from the valley on the weekends as part of a fuels reduction effort as quickly as possible before substantial snow arrives. With an even more narrow one-lane road due to the reconstruction project, the road is not safe for both logging trucks and public use.
