Mammoth Lakes Community e-News: January 24, 2025

Thank YOU Mammoth Lakes!
Its so gratifying and heartwarming to see so many people donate to the Fire Relief Donation Drive! The response has been overwhelming and we hope these contributions, in a small way, will help our southern neighbors recover and rebuild.
If you haven’t already, please join us by donating to the Fire Relief Donation Drive at LA Kings Ice at Mammoth Lakes operating within the Community Recreation Center (686 Old Mammoth Road) daily from 12-8pm. Donations will be delivered to local LA county YMCAs who are on the front lines distributing to those people in need. Acceptable donations include toiletry items, feminine products, pet supplies, baby essentials, diapers, childrens toys, coffee makers, phone chargers, microwaves, bottled water and canned/non-perishable food. The entire community of Mammoth Lakes is sending love and deepest sympathies to our Los Angeles neighbors impacted by the wildfires.
Charting the Future of Mammoth Lakes
Two months ago, the Mammoth Lakes Town Council kicked off the Towns Strategic Planning Series with the goal of adopting a one-page statement defining the Councils Strategic Priorities and Key Objectives for 2025. After two months of looking at the Towns past and analyzing what has been done well while also considering the major challenges ahead, the Town Council has steadily moved forward with the process. There is a great deal that the Town of Mammoth Lakes is doing well, such as operational efficiency, effective public service, governance, quality and diverse recreation opportunities, and being a welcoming and community-orientated Town. However, the challenges that have been in front of us for a while now, still loom large. These include affordable housing, environmental resiliency, community engagement, and balancing tourism with community values and quality of life. These challenges are being discussed and addressed but there is still a lot of work to be done to make sure Mammoth Lakes is a thriving community in the future. Town Council will continue working to adopt the 2025 Strategic Priorities Statement with community feedback in mind. We hope you were able to participate in the recent survey asking the community what it thinks the Town should change, build or improve upon. This feedback is invaluable, and we thank all who participated. Ultimately, this Strategic Priorities Statement will not be about specific projects or detailed assignments. Its expected to be a guiding document that will help Town Councilmembers and staff align their efforts to achieve short term and long-term goals. We look forward to sharing it with you in the months ahead.
