Tis the Season for Kindness, Patience and Lots of Family Fun in Mammoth Lakes!
With fresh snow and more on the way, its time to get out and ski or snowboard at Mammoth Mountain or June Mountain, try Nordic skiing at Tamarack Cross Country Ski Center, have fun tubing at Woolly’s Adventure Summit or try ice skating at LA Kings Ice at Mammoth Lakes.
Mammoth Lakes is great for kids of all ages, with plenty to do in the spirit of season! During snow removal operations, please keep children indoors and do not allow them to play in yards, build snow forts or dig caves near the road.

Chain Up. It’s a Mammoth Thing!
In Mammoth Lakes, winter stoke is always high, for good reason! But remember this merry season of snowy slopes also brings winter driving conditions. Carry chains, understand how to use them, know the restriction codes (R1, R2, R3), keep updated on road conditions, and chain up safely, *not* in the middle of the road.
Mammoth Lakes receives some of the heaviest snowfalls anywhere in California. But day after day, no matter how powerful the storms are, we count on our snow removal crews to efficiently return our streets to drivable conditions. During the winter, these crews work diligently to keep Mammoth Lakes roads clear to ensure safer travel for our residents and visitors. You can help Mammoth Lakes create and maintain safer driving conditions by following some simple rules for being a snow smart driver – watch the Chain Up. Safe and Sustainable Mammoth Disposal Tips for the Holidays!
Christmas Tree Disposal: Free for all Town of Mammoth residential account holders. A $5 fee applies for multifamily households or those who reside outside of Mammoth Lakes. Please remove all decorations before dropping off your tree at our Transfer Station (59 Commerce Drive) in the Industrial Park. Trees will be sent to Full Circle Composting Facility in Nevada for eco-friendly processing.
Holiday Gift Wrap: Most wrapping paper can’t be recycled, but reusing it is a great option. Consider turning it into confetti, drawer liners, DIY greeting cards, origami, or gift tags to reduce waste.
Christmas Lights = Hazardous E-Waste: Old or broken Christmas lights are hazardous e-waste. Drop them off at the Transfer Station or donate working lights for reuse.
Ashes from Holiday Fires: Always dispose of ashes in designated bins with red lids to prevent fire hazards. Do not place them in regular trash.
Happy Holidays from the team at Mammoth Disposal!
