Town Council Meeting Action Items for August 20

Town Council recognized the retirement of Building Inspector/Plans Examiner Ron Haskins.
New Police Officers James Clark, Emily Leach and Rodolfo Madera were introduced to the Town Council, participated in the oath administered by the Town Clerk and received their Police Officer badges.
Town Council participated in a joint workshop with the Board of Mammoth Lakes Tourism to discuss the Economic Impact Study, Summer Stewardship, and Winter Air Service.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife provided a Summer Update to the Town Council.
Town Council approved the letter of public comment from the Town Council regarding the proposed reorganization of the United States Forest Service, approved the resolution authorizing the second amendment to the professional services agreement with DTA for the preparation of a Development Impact Fee and Housing Fee Nexus Study, adopted an Ordinance renewing the Town’s Military Equipment Use Policy, and adopted a resolution rescinding the approval of Use Permit (UPA) 23-002 and vacating the CEQA Notice of Exemption for the construction of an 80-foot tall “stealth monopine” cell tower located at 1574 Old Mammoth Road.

Our first Members-Only Event in June was a fantastic way to kick off the summer. Thank you to everyone who joined us for a morning of swimming, conversation, and connection. Now, as the season winds down, we’re excited to invite you back to Whitmore Pool to help us close out the summer together. Join us from 10am-12pm on Saturday, August 30, for a relaxing morning of light breakfast and swimming exclusively for our Members. We look forward to seeing you there!

Fall in Mammoth Lakes means more than just stunning colors, it’s also the start of one of our most unique visitor draws: Endurance Season. Our high-altitude terrain is a premier exploration hub for runners, cyclists, gravel riders, mountain bikers, climbers, Spartan enthusiasts, and other athletes.

September 12-14: Flash Foxy Trad Fest centered around Mammoth Creek Park
September 18-21: Mammoth Trailfest centered around The Village
September 26-30: The Mammoth 200 Mile Trail Run start/finish at The Village
October 4-5: Spartan Super World Championships at Mammoth Mountain

Community Coffee

The next Community Coffee will be on Thursday, August 28 at 8:30am on this  Zoom link [https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85087147614] . Colin West, Founder & CEO and Jenny Uvira, Programs Manager for Clean Up the Lake will speak about their upcoming cleanup taking place at McLeod Lake from September 15-19. They will also share updates on the nonprofit organization’s recent work to remove submerged litter, document aquatic invasive species, and prevent future pollution of our local lakes. The Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce and Mammoth Lakes Tourism will also provide updates. Our featured coffee shop this month is Mammoth Coffee Roasting Co. We continue to use the Mobilozophy platform to provide a mobile coupon only attendees may redeem for free coffee and tea drinks. Don’t forget to stick around for trivia and your chance to win a great prize.
