Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce Career Compass Program

The Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce (MLCC) recently held a workforce development  program called Career Compass. This program focused on career readiness by educating local youth  on resume building, professional presentation, and application completion. Chamber members and  local business leaders volunteered their time to conduct workshops in the classrooms of all ninth  through eleventh grade students at Mammoth High School, Sierra High School and Jan Works  Community School. These invaluable skills not only prepared students for the world of work but  also instilled confidence and self-assurance as they step into adulthood.

Following the workshops, the Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce hosted a Student Job Fair on  Thursday, May 2 at the Mammoth High School MPR. Nearly 250 students from Mammoth High  School, Sierra High School and Jan Work Community School visited the booths of over 20 different  business within Mammoth Lakes. Students had the opportunity to explore various entry level  positions and meet with prospective employers. For the businesses, employing local youth is  essential to maintaining business operations at a time when housing availability is low and  therefore, workforce recruitment and retention is challenging.

The Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce thanks our partners at the various schools as well as  the Mammoth Mountain Community Foundation for their support.
