MLR Awarded Grant for Sherwins Area
Mammoth Lakes Recreation (MLR) has announced that it has been awarded $1,460,000 from the Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC) for its “Sherwins Trailhead” and “Sherwins Area Trails and Trailhead Expansion” projects.

California Minimum Wage
This January, California’s minimum wage will rise to $15.50. That represents an increase of 50 cents-an-hour for businesses with 26 or more employees, and $1.50 an hour for those with 25 or fewer. It’s the first time that the minimum wage is the same for all employers in the state regardless of size.
Free COVID-19 Home Tests
Residential households in the U.S. can now order one additional set of four (4) free at-home COVID-19 (Coronavirus) tests from USPS.com. These tests are available to all households, including those who have utilized the previous opportunities.
No Reservations Required to Visit Yosemite National Park in 2023
Reservations will not be required to visit Yosemite National Park during the summer of 2023. Reservations were required in the summers of 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic and in summer 2022 when numerous key visitor attractions were closed for critical infrastructure repairs. Formal announcement to follow in a few weeks.
No-Cost Refrigeration Program
High Sierra Energy Foundation is implementing a new grant program in Mono, Inyo, and Alpine counties to increase access to healthy foods. The Sierra Healthy Refrigeration Program (SHRP) will provide access to no-cost energy efficient and low global warming potential refrigeration units to increase healthy food options. SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan
A disaster designation was declared for the counties of Butte, Glenn, Nevada, Placer, Tehama, Tuolumne, Yolo and Yuba as a result of an agriculture hard freeze that occurred on April 11-12 2022. Since Mono County is an adjacent county to the disaster area, Mono County/Town of Mammoth Lakes businesses are now eligible for low interest disaster loans.
$85 Million in Tax Credits Available for California Businesses
This year’s California Competes Tax Credit (CCTC) application period is underway and the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) has up to $85 million in tax credits available to award businesses that want to locate in California or stay and grow in the state.
