Last Call for Summer in the Eastern Sierra

Mono County August Newsletter
Happy Summer from the Eastern Sierra!
Summer is in full swing in the high Sierra. Recent rainfall has the hillsides lush and green, the lakes full, wildflowers in the high country and many waterfalls are still giving us a show. Last week we had a period of cooler temperatures that remind us that Fall is just under two months away.
Regular fishing season continues through November 15th. We have been stocking our lakes and streams with tons of fish all summer. You can request a fishing map, view our Fishing Events, and check out our Rules and Regulations Page to learn more.
There are plenty of options for traveling to the region. Advanced Airlines fly from Hawthorne and Carlsbad into Mammoth Lakes on Fridays and Sundays through September 2nd. United Airlines from San Francisco into Bishop daily through September 2nd and moves to Fridays and Sundays September 6 – October 6.
To travel by car take a scenic mountain road: Tioga Pass (check reservation requirement times or plan to travel through the pass after 5pm during busy times), Sonora Pass, Monitor Pass, and Highway 395.
We have a few new businesses that you have to stop in to check out: June Lake Local Scoop, Pete’s Food Truck, Yoga Eastern Sierra, and Grouse House. You can also search all of our business listings by community or category to see all of the great places you must see on your visit here.
Visit us in Mono County soon and enjoy our high elevation temperatures and alpine lakes lots of fun activities like: fishing, stargazing, horseback riding, golfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, hiking, boating, camping, waterfall chasing, and soon fall color viewing.
