Lakes Basin Road to Close Ahead of Winter Storm 

Mammoth Lakes, Calif., November 15, 2023 — As the winter storm approaches, Mammoth Ranger District of the Inyo National Forest will close the seasonal gate accessing the Lakes Basin to vehicular traffic today, November 15^th at 05:00 PM. If snowy and icy conditions affect public safety prior to 05:00 PM, the gate will close sooner.

This gate is found on Lake Mary Road just past the Tamarack Lodge and will be evaluated to reopen based on future weather forecasts and snow depths.
