Inyo County Farmers Eligible for Loan Aid
The Inyo County Board of Supervisors announces that farm operators in Inyo County impacted by drought may be eligible for Farm Service Agency (FSA) emergency loan assistance.
On August 31, the United States Department of Agriculture’s deputy under secretary for Farm Production and Conservation declared Clark County, NV a “primary natural disaster area” for having suffered from a drought that began May 19, 2026. Inyo County is one of five additional areas in Nevada, California, and Arizona that were declared “contiguous disaster counties” impacted by the disaster.
The designation makes farmers in the primary county and contiguous counties eligible for FSA emergency loan assistance, provided eligibility requirements are met. Farmers in Inyo County have eight months from the date of the disaster declaration to apply for emergency loans. According to the USDA, the FSA considers each emergency loan application on its own merits, taking into account the extent of the production losses on the farm and the security and repayment ability of the operator.
