Inyo County Board of Supervisors to Hold Special Meeting

INDEPENDENCE – The Inyo County Board of Supervisors will hold a special meeting this coming Tuesday, January 24 beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Board will recess to Closed Session, with a scheduled return to Open Session at 9 a.m.

The Board will receive departmental overviews from the Public Works and Health & Human Services departments, and, at 11 a.m., host a public hearing on behalf of CalFire. The agency is gathering feedback on updates made to the statewide Fire Hazard Safety Zones map, which ranks rural, unincorporated areas based on the likelihood they will experience wildfire.

Tuesday’s meeting is accessible to the public both in person and via Zoom webinar: https://zoom.us/j/868254781. The meeting may also be accessed by telephone at the following numbers: (669) 900-6833; (346) 248-7799; (253) 215-8782; (929) 205-6099; (301) 715-8592; (312) 626-6799. Webinar ID: 868 254 781.

Although the Board normally meets every Tuesday, it traditionally goes “dark” on the last two Tuesdays of five-Tuesday months. Per County Code, “regular meetings of the board of supervisors of the county are fixed for the first, second, third and fourth Tuesday of each calendar month; provided, however, in calendar months where there is a fifth Tuesday, there shall be no regular meeting of the board of supervisors on the fourth Tuesday of such calendar month.”

The agenda and agenda packet, which includes more information about the CalFire hearing, can be found at: https://www.inyocounty.us/government/publications-reports-plans-proclamations/meeting-agendas-minutes.
