JoHanna Love Harvey
May 21, 1928- October 13, 2022
JoHanna Love Harvey was born May 21, 1928 to Frank Mignot and Sue Stites Mignot, two months premature, in Abilene, Kansas. Her crib was a shoe box by the wood stove to keep her warm! She was a fighter from the start! What an extraordinary 94 years her life spanned.
She graduated from Bakersfield High, Class of 1946. She met Keeth Love at a Bob Wills dance in Bakersfield. They married later that year, November 22, 1946 and began their life together. JoHanna worked for Standard Oil when they married and dad was a truck driver but then went to barber school, owning the shop on Chester Avenue. She later had the offer to work for Standard Oil corporate office in San Francisco but turned it down.Two children were born, Mary Evelyn & Jerald Keeth. They bought the alley barbershop in Bishop, January 1955 & March 1955 moved to Bishop. She was a busy mom, brownie leader, cub scout leader, little league mom, Bishopette mom. In her spare time, she worked for Carl Moore at his sporting goods store & also learned to be an excellent dental technician from Carl. She loved to hunt & fish, her beautiful yard & roses. We spent many Sundays fishing at the Beaver Ponds in Coyote, Sabrina, Mammoth Lakes & Crowley. Keeth passed away July 1955 & she immediately switched gears, went to barber college in Bakersfield, graduated the top of her class, all the while keeping things going at home. So proud of her. She owned the Main Street Barber Shop and was the first lady barber in Bishop & the best one ever!! She met Bill Harvey, January 1968, they were married June 1968 for 34 years. Bill transferred with the Forest Service to Lee Vining in late 70s. They built a beautiful home at Mono City. She loved to fish Lundy. After retiring, they moved to Helendale, California, built a home on the third fairway-played golf all of the time!! They traveled in the summer and always found new places to play golf. After Bill passed away, she returned to Bishop to be closer to family. She traveled to Russia, Alaska, Canada & cruised to Tahiti with her best friend Wilma. She loved playing cards and always with the ladies for golf. She was also a lady Elk & helped many years with bingo.
She was a very talented lady! Not sure what she couldn’t do. She was an excellent seamstress, crocheted a bedspread, the thread would reach to Independence, bookkeeper, real estate, help build a home, put in the yard a cement work, needle point along with cooking pheasant, quail & chucker she & my dad bagged. Above all a wonderful mom we were so lucky to have. Love you, fly with the angels.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Keeth Love & Bill Harvey, grandson, John Scronce last January. He was waiting for her and son-in-law, Steve Scronce last February 15. She is survived by daughter Mary Love Stronce, grandson Darrell Scronce, Lisa, great grandsons Cole & Cooper, and son Jerry Love.
