Bishop Paiute Tribe, investors, and others gather to sign truss and lift it in honor of their hard work

Tribal members, including the CEO, and others gathered outside Wanaaha Casino on April 15 in the shadow of the morning light next to the foundations that will soon be the Wanaaha Hotel in celebration of their achievements and vision.
The energy was high and everyone took time together as they arrived to appreciate how lucky they were to be present for such an event. I, myself, was able to meet new people and friendly faces thanks to the efforts of Victoria Begay, the Paiute Public Relations Specialist, in getting the word out.
As the sun rose over the scene, it was time to sign the truss.

Now, I had never heard of such an event before and thought maybe there was a typo (did they mean trust?) but I was just completely unaware.
The signing of the truss is a monumental, almost spiritual, and incredibly meaningful event in which a part of the final project is quite literally signed by everyone involved in bringing it to fruition.
The truss is a critical piece of the construction of a building. In this case it will be included in the formation of the front-facing roof apexes, prominently displayed, though the keystone actually signed by each member will be playing a behind-the-scenes role.

Those who know, will know.
I can’t imagine how satisfying this must have felt to so many that had worked so long and so hard to make this a reality.
The Paiute Tribe, and all surrounding communities, are bound to greatly benefit from such a bold and comprehensive project designed to give visitors a better way to explore and experience all that we have to offer.
A special thanks to CEO of the Bishop Paiute Tribe Joseph Byrd, Chairman Steven Orihuela, Public Relations Officer Victoria Begay, and Council Member Jeff Romero who, if I’m not mistaken, printed his signature on the truss in size 100 font. He left everyone else in awe of how to even follow suit after such a bold gesture.
You can expect us to continue bringing you updates about the progression of this incredible project until it finally comes to fruition.
We will be showing you a walk-through of a demo model as soon as we can, to be expected sometime in early summer.
