implementation partner, will be available during the webinars to answer questions.

Program Benefits for Local Businesses

  • No-cost site assessment and evaluation
  • Potential for fully funded EV charging installation
  • Increased customer traffic from EV drivers and travelers
  • Support for local workforce mobility, tourism, and regional economic development • Alignment with California’s clean energy and climate goals

“These charging stations are not just about clean vehicles,” said Sophia Kaufman, Project  Coordinator at CSEDD. “The Sierra Charging Network is about expanding clean energy  infrastructure, creating stronger local economies, and a more resilient future for Sierra  communities.” This effort reflects CSEDD’s growing commitment to advancing clean  energy solutions that strengthen the region’s economy and workforce and aligns with the  Sierra Jobs First initiative, which identifies Clean Energy, Sustainable Agriculture,  Community Healthcare, Natural and Working Lands, and Sustainable Recreation and  Tourism as priority sectors for regional economic resilience.

About the Sierra Charging Network

The Sierra Charging Network aims to increase EV charging access in rural and underserved  communities throughout California. Funded by the California Energy Commission, the  program supports planning, deployment, and community partnerships that accelerate EV  infrastructure development.

About CSEDD

The Central Sierra Economic Development District serves Alpine, Amador, Calaveras,  Tuolumne and Mariposa counties by driving economic development, infrastructure  planning, and community resilience. CSEDD also participates in broader initiatives and  grant-funded projects that extend beyond its core service area to support economic  development outcomes.

Capacity to secure this regional investment was made possible by Sector Navigation  funding provided through Sierra Jobs First, a regional initiative working toward high-quality  job growth, climate resilience, and economic prosperity across the Sierra region. Sierra Business Council, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, serves as the regional convener and fiscal agent  for the Sierra Jobs First initiative.
