Kathy and Greg Turner were long time Bishop residents who met and fell in love in suburban Los Angeles. They grew up on opposite sides of the Puente Hills, he as a Canadian immigrant in the San Gabriel Valley and she the embodiment of a California girl in Whittier. Greg enlisted in the Army during Vietnam and after surviving the horrors of war and having difficulty readjusting to civilian life as many soldiers do, Kathy became his true North. After finding each other and marrying in 1973, the call of the Eastern Sierra became too hard to resist. Kathy vacationed in Inyo and Mono counties with her family in her youth, an experience she happily shared with Greg and he enthusiastically embraced. They made Bishop home in 1984, where they raised a family and found fulfillment. The Owens Valley would be home for the next thirty nine years until Kathy moved on to join Greg eternally in 2023. The Turner siblings, surviving family and close friends will be celebrating their lives and legacies on October 8, 2023 at Elks Park. Please join us in remembrance.
