Caltrans Traffic Advisory for the Week of 9/26/2022 – 9/30/2022

EASTERN KERN, INYO, and MONO COUNTIES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces the following project work and traffic impacts from these projects for the week of September 26 – September 30, 2022.

 

Eastern Kern County

Rosamond-Mojave Rehabilitation Project – On State Route 14 between the towns of Rosamond and Mojave, crews have removed K-rail from the southbound lanes. Striping work is scheduled Monday through Friday overnight from 9:00 pm to 8:00 am. There will be intermittent daytime closures for the southbound ramps at Silver Queen Road, Dawn Road and Backus Road Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm to allow crews to stripe them. The speed limit through the construction zone remains 55 miles per hour.

Canebrake Utility Work – On State Route 178 W between Frank Street and Jacks Creek Road, there will be utility work Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. There will be one-way traffic control and drivers may experience 20-minute delays.

Inyo County

State Route 190 Flash Flood Closure – Due to heavy damage from flash floods, State Route 190 is closed from approximately five miles east of the town of Olancha to Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley National Park. The park is accessible via its eastern entrance on State Route 190 from Death Valley Junction.

See-Vee Lane Utility Work – On U.S. Highway 395 between See-Vee Lane and Tu-Su Lane in Bishop, there will be utility work on Wednesday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Drivers may experience 5-minute delays.

 

Mono County

Smokey Bear Flat Thin Blanket – On the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 395 from the junction with State Route 203 to 1.2 miles north of Glass Creek Road, crews will place a thin blanket asphalt overlay and repair structural sections of the highway Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. One lane will be open at all times. Exit 263, the southbound off-ramp at the junction with State Route 203, will be closed on Tuesday, September 27 from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm. The speed limit is 55 miles per hour through the construction zone.

June Lake Loop Utility Work – On State Route 158 (June Lake Loop), there will be utility work on Tuesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm in the following locations:

  • Between Silver Lake Campground and 0.25 miles west.
  • Between Aspen Road and Iowa Street.

There will be one-way traffic control in both locations and drivers may experience 10-minute delays.

 

Projects on the state highway system with minimal or no delays:

Kern County

Keene Road Guardrail Repair – On the eastbound lanes of State Route 58 between Keene Road and Broome Road west of the city of Tehachapi, crews will repair guardrail Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Inyo County

Olancha Shoulder Closures – On U.S. Highway 395 at the junction with State Route 190 in Olancha, there will be intermittent shoulder closures to allow trucks access to deliver material Tuesday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Lone Pine Tree Work – On the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 395 from the Lone Pine Airport to Burkhart Road, crews will trim trees on Thursday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Bishop Utility Work – On State Route 168/West Line Street between Grandview Road and the junction with U.S. Highway 395/Main Street, there will be utility work Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Ed Powers Road Utility Work – On U.S. Highway 395 between Brockman Lane and Ed Powers Road near the town of Bishop, there will be utility work on Tuesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

 

Mono County

North Sherwin Shoulders ­– On U.S. Highway 395 from 2.4 miles south of Lower Rock Creek Road to 0.3 miles north of Lower Rock Creek Road, crews have finished paving the wider shoulders throughout the project. Crews are now focused on erosion control, roadway striping, and guardrail installation. Traffic is confined to the innermost lanes by K-Rail and delineators until further notice. There is a bicycle detour on Lower Rock Creek Road. The speed limit is 55 miles per hour through the work zone. Benton Crossing Utility Work – On U.S. Highway 395 between Benton Crossing Road and 0.25 miles north, there will be utility work on Tuesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Mammoth Lakes Utility Work – On State Route 203 between Sawmill Road and Meridian Boulevard, there will be utility work on Monday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Clean California Mono Lake Guardrail Project – On U.S. Highway 395 from Picnic Grounds Road to McPhearson Subdivision Road just north of Lee Vining, crews will be upgrading guardrail and installing safety enhancements Wednesday through Friday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.

 

The Rosamond-Mojave Rehabilitation Project is funded by SB 1, which provides $5 billion in transportation funding annually split between the state and local agencies. Road projects progress through construction phases more quickly based on the availability of SB 1 funds, including projects that are partially funded by SB 1.
