Bronco Football Wins 19-7 Over Burroughs at Ridgecrest

The Broncos improve to 4-0 and retain the “High Desert Classic” trophy with a 19-7 win Friday night at Ridgecrest Burroughs High School.

The Bronco defense held the Burros scoreless until the final minutes of the game playing great team defense.
Senior defensive back Carson Schmidt had a team high 7 solo tackles.
Senior linebacker Isaac Reno made the start and recorded 4 solo tackles and a big tackle for a loss.
Senior lineman Kaelan Smith had a pair of sacks, a tackle for a loss and knocked down a pass.
Junior Wes Jorgensen had another big night with 5 solo tackles and 3 tackles for loss from his noseguard position.
Senior Albert Cano had 3 solo tackles and a pass break up.
Junior Austin Powell made 5 solo tackles and broke up a pass.
Junior quarterback Boden St. Marie played a role in all three touchdowns rushing for a score and passing for two more. St. Marie had a team high 75 rushing yards and completed 11 passes for 182 yards and the two scores.
7 Broncos caught passes with sophomore Milton Michel and Junior Jason Mullner catching touchdowns.

Next up for the Broncos is a trip to Fillmore for a match up with Trinity Classical Academy. The Trinity game was added once Desert canceled their season.

Carson Schmidt
Senior Defensive back had a team high 7 solo tackles. Carson also contributed to the bronco offense with a pair of tough runs and a reception.

Offense
Boden St. Marie
The junior Quarterback had a big night with a team high 14 rushes for 75 yards and a touchdown and completed 11 passes to 7 different receivers for 182 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Defense
Isaac Reno
Senior linebacker made 4 solo tackles including a big tackle for loss in the 4th quarter. Isaac also assisted on a pair of tackles.

Special Teams
Austin Powell
Junior made a pair of tackles on kickoff coverage. Junior linebacker had a total of 5 solo tackles in the game.
