Bishop Broncos Girls Tennis Defeat Rosamond 6-3 in Last Home League Match

BUHS Girls Tennis hosted Rosamond in their last home league match.

Final score: Bishop 6 Rosamond 3

“It was a great match for both teams,” said Coach Cummings. “It is not often that you have 8 tie-breaks in a match.”

One of the most exciting came from the #1 doubles team of Avery McGraw and Kinlei Romero. They were behind 1-4 and came back to win the first set 7-5, then took the second set to a tie break and hung on for an 8-6 win over the Roadrunners #1.

Another tie-break was with the #2 doubles team of Seniors Ania Durham and Cadence Nott. They lost 4-6 then won 6-3 . They took the tie-break 10-4 for another point for the Broncos.

Destanee Barajas and Sofie Ablanedo won their first set 6-1 and were winning 5-1 when Rosamond had an injury and was unable to finish the last game.

Sofie Ablanedo had a great day in singles also playing in the #4 spot. She lost her first set 5-7 then won her second set 6-4 and went on to a 10-7 victory over her opponent.

Scout Osland #1 singles player for Bishop also played well winning her first set 7-5 then coming on strong to win 6-3 in the second.

Lucia Elia moved up to play singles #2 position and had no problem defeating her opponent 6-3 6-1.

Xitlaly Solorio went to a tie-break in her singles match losing 1-6 winning 6-1 then just losing the tie break 7-10.

Amelia Winter had two tie-breaks in her match up. She lost her first set in a tie-break 4-7 then won 6-0. The last tie-break deciding the 3rd set ended in a 7-10 loss for her.

Siena Pope lost her first set in a tie-break 6-8 then won her second set 6-1. The third set tie-break she lost 5-10.

Next up the Broncos travel to KV on Thursday. The Broncos are currently 2-3 in league.
