Beyond the Beyond: Targeted Individuals Revisited

Imagine waking up each morning in your bed with a sinking feeling like you are being watched. But not just by one person, but by many. You step outside, and an invisible network of people, cameras, and other surveillance equipment is monitoring your every move. You’re struck by strange sounds, followed by total strangers, and subjected to psychological manipulation by invisible weapons. For thousands, if not more, this is everyday life as a targeted individual.

We previously discussed this phenomenon. I’d like to dig a little deeper.

As discussed before, this is something that is often dismissed as pure fantasy. Some see it as paranoid people finding other paranoid people on Facebook groups and Reddit forums and feeding into each other’s twisted fantasies. Others view it as pure mental illness—bipolar disorder with delusions or depression, intrusive thoughts with compulsive behaviors, PTSD, paranoid personality disorder, or some kind of persecutory-type personality disorder.

What if that is what most of the cases are, but there are still some that are yet to be explained? Some targeted individuals actually have quite compelling stories. These stories come from people with no history of mental illness, who have a good standing in the community, and have absolutely nothing to gain (with everything to lose) by speaking out about what is happening to them.

Dr. John Hall, an anesthesiologist from San Antonio, Texas, believes his girlfriend was being stalked and harassed by some unknown and nefarious organization. It began subtly, with people loitering near her home, watching her movements as she left and came home from her job. Then things escalated—her apartment was entered without signs of forced entry, and small items were mysteriously rearranged. It felt like someone was trying to unnerve her and make her question her own sanity.

Some, including those close to the case, believe this wasn’t random harassment but part of a larger, unauthorized experiment on human behavior, potentially backed by shadowy government affiliates or private firms with something to gain. What they’re gaining, or who was even responsible, is up for debate.

Derrick Robinson, a military veteran and later founder of Freedom From Covert Harassment and Surveillance (FFCHS), claimed his targeting experience began in 1982. He says he is the victim of being followed, constantly monitored, and will occasionally hear “strange voices” in his head. In recent years, he has tried to advocate for T.I.s by giving them a platform so that their voices can be heard.

In April 2024, a video of Ella Gorgla, a former Estée Lauder executive, quickly gained attention and went viral on TikTok. The clip shows a social worker, New York City police officers, and emergency medical personnel arriving unannounced at her hotel room to take her to Bellevue Hospital, a facility known for psychiatric care. Gorgla, a Columbia graduate recently admitted to Princeton, resisted the forced hospitalization and said the episode was just one example of ongoing harassment she believes began after she spoke out as a whistleblower. Earlier, she was one of 22 women who exposed racial discrimination and mistreatment of Black female employees at Estée Lauder. Many have questioned whether her experiences are signs of mental distress or a legitimate campaign to silence her.

The experiences that people are having highlight a troubling pattern of surveillance and control. Well… maybe. Techniques such as social isolation, voice-to-skull technology, gang stalking, and other methods are said to be designed to destabilize the individual and create a campaign of intimidation and harassment. Maybe. There does seem to be some credible evidence to suggest that some of these stories are legitimate—and there are a lot more where the people think they are legitimate. It’s hard to separate the wheat from the chaff in these cases. The good cases, those that appear to have more credibility, bring to light critical concerns about who holds power, how it’s exercised, and the real-life consequences that intelligence agencies can have on these individuals.
