Eastern Sierra Holiday Season
Happy Holidays from Mono County!
So far, Winter has brought us cold temperatures and a few light snow showers. Right now is a wonderful time of the year where the choice of things to do ranges vastly from ice skating (new indoor rink in Mammoth Lakes), hiking, fishing to skiing and snowboarding.
A break from snowy weather has kept lower-elevation favorites like Bodie Ghost Town and the South Tufa Reserve on Mono Lake open and accessible.
We are excitedly awaiting the opening of June Mountain on December 16th. June Mountain has many fun family events planned like Bucky’s Saturday Bonfire which will include a silent disco, free hot cocoa and free cotton candy.
Mammoth Mountain Ski Area opened in November and currently has top-to-bottom skiing and riding out of Main Lodge.
Many lodging properties throughout Mono County still have availability over the holiday season. What better gift to give yourself and your family or special someone? Join us this winter and cozy up in mountains to relax, connect with loved ones and enjoy the winter beauty of the Eastern Sierra.
When traveling, things can change quickly, so as always, watch the weather forecast and check road conditions before travelling. We’re also happy to help with information and ideas for all things Mono County. Reply to this email or call us at 800-845-7922 with questions.
Have a safe and Happy Holidays
Kids 12 and Under can ski and ride FREE at June Mountain. June Mountain is part of the IKON Pass.
Winter Fishing
Looking for something to do on your ski day off or a way to keep your skills sharp for the regular season?
The regular fishing season ended on November 15th, but several bodies of water remain open for catch-and-release with barbless artificial flies and lures only. You’d be surprised – it might become your new favorite season.
In October Mr. Gunther caught a 22-pound, 10-ounce brown trout out of Twin Lakes in Bridgeport. Read the Western Outdoor News article to hear how he did it.

Bodie Road is Currently Open
While Bodie State Park is actually open year round, the 13-mile road to Bodie – State Route 270 – will close with snow. The abandoned streets and buildings of the ghost town are particularly haunting in the quiet, chilly winter months – don’t miss this special time to see it and get there soon.
Open 9am-4pm. Check the weather and current road conditions before you go.
The 2025 Bodie Calendar contest is OPEN!
