Bishop City Council Announces Intent to Appoint Ethan Aukee as Interim City Administrator
BISHOP, Calif. — As many in our community are aware, City Administrator Pamela Foster recently announced her resignation, effective November 27, 2026, to focus on her family.
While Pam’s tenure with the City was relatively short, her contributions have been significant. Over the past 14 months, she has dedicated an enormous amount of time and energy to serving Bishop. Her leadership helped strengthen City operations, improve organizational efficiency, and lay the groundwork for continued improvements in how we serve our residents.
“We are tremendously grateful for Pam’s dedication to our community,” said Mayor Stephen Muchovej. “Bishop is a community that values family, and we wholeheartedly understand and respect her decision to prioritize hers. We wish Pam and her family all the very best.”
The Council’s immediate priority is to maintain the momentum of ongoing City initiatives while supporting the dedicated team of department leaders and staff who serve the Bishop community. As such, the City Council intends to appoint Assistant City Administrator Ethan Aukee to serve as Interim City Administrator during the transition. In this role, he would support City departments and help maintain continuity in City operations while the Council considers the selection of the next City Administrator.
“We are fortunate to have an exceptional team of professionals working for the City of Bishop,” Muchovej said. “Our goal during this transition is to preserve the strong working relationships and momentum this team has built, while ensuring that the important work underway continues without unnecessary disruption. Ethan’s familiarity with City operations and his existing relationships with our departments make him well-positioned to provide continuity during this transition.”
The City Council recognizes that selecting a permanent City Administrator is among its most important responsibilities and intends to approach that process thoughtfully and deliberately.
“We are not interested in rushing into a decision simply to fill a position,” Muchovej added. “We want to make sure we get it right, both for our employees and for the community we serve. In the meantime, our residents should know that the City remains in capable hands, and our commitment to Bishop’s long-term goals remains unchanged.”
