“This is Temporary” Exhibition Opens at The Project Room: The Urgency of Now

Bishop, CA – [April 22, 2025] – Join us for the opening reception of “This is Temporary” on Friday, May 2, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at The Project Room featuring the work of 17 artists who delve into impermanence and the power of connection in an ever-evolving world. The show will run through June 28, 2025 with a closing reception on Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.
“We are thrilled to bring together these artists who are responding to the uncertainties of our time,” say co-curators Jane Hsu and Jenny Kane. “This exhibition asks artists and viewers to contemplate the fleeting nature of existence and to find meaning in the present moment. We hope to continue the exhibition series this fall in the Eastern Sierra.”
Co-founded by Bruce and Karen Licher, The Project Room has hosted 13 exhibitions in Bishop and is part of Independent Project Press, offering distinctive letterpress printing since opening in 1982.
“This is Temporary” showcases a diverse range of artistic expressions, including immersive video, animation, poetry, sculpture and installation that opens the doors to the urgency of now. Daniel Feldman’s drawing beckons you into a swirling dream, while Bao Quoc Doan’s Bishop Tea Club offers ‘Ephemeral Steeps’–a passage through moments that vanish as they form. Sage Romero’s animations sing of heritage that adapts and endures, a counterpoint to Pamela Jones’ watercolor cries for endangered life. With Karen Atkinson’s projections, you become part of a brushstroke in the canvas of time, and J. Martin Dean’s poems capture the dizzying rush of existence.
Come witness the art of impermanence, before it’s gone.
