We’re excited to welcome visitors to our new Information Center location at 218-A South Main Street. Stop in during your next trip for local tips, trail and fishing maps, souvenirs, event information, and expert recommendations to help you make the most of your Eastern Sierra adventure. Our new location is conveniently located at the south entrance to downtown with ample parking on Main Street right in front of the shop.
Wildflower season is in full swing across the Eastern Sierra, with colorful blooms lighting up the valley floor, canyon trails, and high country landscapes. Combined with excellent fishing conditions throughout the region, it’s shaping up to be an incredible start to summer in Bishop.
Adventure season is also ramping up as hiking and backpacking trails continue opening across Bishop’s Big Backyard. From scenic day hikes and waterfalls to iconic Eastern Sierra backpacking routes, visitors are heading outdoors to explore the region’s unforgettable mountain scenery.
Summer events are filling the calendar as well, including the California High School Rodeo State Finals Championship returning to Bishop June 7–13, bringing more than 300 of the state’s top cowboys and cowgirls to the Tri-County Fairgrounds for a week of exciting competition and western heritage celebration.

Hiking and backpacking season is underway in the Eastern Sierra, with more trails opening as snow melts from the high country. From scenic day hikes to unforgettable alpine backpacking adventures, now is the perfect time to explore Bishop’s Big Backyard.
Wildflower Season Happening Now!

Wildflowers are blooming around Bishop! What makes the Bishop area so special is its dramatic range in elevation. Flowers begin on the valley floor and in the lower deserts, then gradually move higher into the mountains as the season progresses.
As spring turns to summer, new blooms continue to emerge at higher elevations, with alpine areas often blooming into early July. This long season creates months of color and an ever changing landscape for visitors to enjoy.
Ancient Bristlecone Pines Road Is OPEN!

The road to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest is now open for the season, offering access to one of the most breathtaking and unique landscapes in the Eastern Sierra. Home to some of the oldest living trees on Earth, it’s the perfect time to explore this iconic high elevation destination.

United Airlines summer flights between Bishop and San Francisco are underway and will operate through October 23rd, 2026.
San Francisco (SFO) → Bishop (BIH)
- May 21 – June 22: Flights operate 4 days a week
- June 25 – September 8: Flights operate daily
- September 10 – October 23: Flights operate 4 days a week
Pro Tip: Make ground transportation reservations BEFORE you take off for Bishop! While rideshare service is limited, we do have door-to-door Dial a Ride service with Eastern Sierra Transit. They also have shuttle service to other communities.
Other options include: Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Mammoth Taxi and Mammoth All Weather Shuttle.
