Join us for an important community meeting with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to learn about the growing threat of the invasive Golden Mussel.
CDFW News Release:
California Takes Action to Halt Golden Mussel Invasion
This species poses a serious risk to Mono County’s lakes, ecosystems, and economy—especially for businesses and organizations that rely on outdoor recreation, fishing, and tourism.
This session is open to anyone who may be interested, including marina operators, fishing and tackle shops, fishing guides, local businesses, anyone who works on the front lines with visitors, etc. We’ll discuss how the Golden Mussel spreads, the potential impacts on our local waters, and the steps we can all take to help prevent its introduction.
Your awareness and involvement are key to protecting Mono County’s natural resources.

Golden Mussel Response Funding Opportunity
Eligible to Apply: Entities that own or operate boating facilities in California
What: $1 million in grants to prevent the spread of invasive mussels. Eligible projects include equipment purchases, facility enhancements, and staff training.
When:

- Deadline: May 23, 2025
