Keep Mammoth Lakes Unreal, Its a Mammoth Thing: E-Bike Etiquette

Mammoth Lakes Tourism, in collaboration with the Town of Mammoth Lakes and Mammoth Lakes Recreation, has launched a video series Keep Mammoth Lakes Unreal, Its a Mammoth Thing. The campaign aims to create a culture of protecting and preserving Mammoth Lakes through a series of 6 engaging videos, each focusing on a stewardship topic that invites everyone to take action.
The fourth video on E-Bike Etiquette is a playful storytelling of following safety rules, respecting guidelines and being thoughtful of other path users. Partners plan to release one more video on the topic of wildlife safety in the coming weeks.

Caltrans Announces Detour for Upcoming Closure of U.S. HWY 395 Near Sonora Junction

Beginning Wednesday, September 4, U.S. HWY 395 will fully close for 15 days between State Route 108 and just south of Burcham Flat Road while crews install two wildlife crossings underneath the roadway as part of the Sonora Junction Shoulders Project. Construction will be scheduled 24 hours a day during the closure, and no vehicles will be allowed through. To assist drivers, Caltrans has set up the following detour. Drivers should be aware there are no services available on the detour route. Anyone requiring fuel, food, or a charge should utilize services in Bridgeport and Walker/Coleville/Topaz before taking the detour. All four communities will be open for business throughout the closure.

Drivers should not attempt to drive through the hard closure because large sections of the roadway will be completely missing. Construction crews will be working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until complete.
