Your support matters: Help Sierra Forever continue to educate and inspire!

We need your help to keep our visitor centers open and education programs thriving!

sierra forever

This year, Sierra Forever stepped up in a big way, because we had to.

With staffing cuts to the U.S. Forest Service, the visitor centers in the Eastern Sierra were at risk of staying closed this year. In addition, a power surge during the off season damaged the fire alarm system at the Mono Basin Visitor Center, threatening to keep its doors closed all season. But thanks to your past support, we were able to hire additional seasonal staff, contribute $8,000 to the repair of the fire alarm system, open the doors, and continue to welcome thousands of visitors to these special places. As the official non-profit partner of Inyo, Humboldt-Toiyabe, Tahoe, and Klamath National Forests, we take that responsibility seriously and we couldn’t do it without you.

We believe that one of the best ways to protect our public lands is by educating people about how special they are and how to explore them responsibly. That’s why we work hard every day to connect people to public lands in meaningful ways.

Your support keeps that mission alive. This year alone, your generosity has helped us accomplish so much already, including:

  • A full calendar of free interpretive hikes and snowshoe walks in the Eastern Sierra
  • Campfire Programs at campgrounds around the eastside focusing on bear awareness
  • Ranger-led programs and stewardship in the Alabama Hills
  • The Bishop Climbing Rangers sixth season, doubling their stewardship events and educating over 2300 climbers on leave no trace and sustainable climbing.
  • Eastern Sierra Snowschool, getting over 250 local 5th graders into the mountains to learn about snow science and winter ecology
  • Massive Paint the Mountain Green clean up event in the Spring Mountains, NV
  • Multiple educational events with local schools focusing on watershed health, natural history and stewardship
  • Opening and staffing 19 Visitor Centers in CA and NV

But we need your help to keep going!

With more visitors than ever and fewer agency resources, it’s up to us to protect these landscapes and inspire the next generation of stewards. But to keep going and to stay ready for whatever comes next, we need your help.
