Ultramarathon runner collapses due to severe heat stroke in Lone Pine

An ultramarathon runner collapsed just 100 yards from the finish line due to severe heat stroke during a race in Lone Pine last weekend. Johnny Fraser was immediately airlifted to a neuro ICU in Las Vegas in critical condition. While he continues to receive treatment, his loved ones are asking for help through a GoFundMe page.
The fundraiser reads, “Johnny is a lot of people’s hero. He is an incredible father and dedicated husband and one of the most honorable men I know. He truly loves (and is excellent at) his job of traveling the world as a documentary filmmaker and photographer, and the physically grueling nature of the job was part of his inspiration to begin running in marathons…Of course, work must come to a halt in these emergencies, and he and his family need our help during this time to start addressing the massive hospital bills, especially while he is not able to work.”
