U.S. Highway 395 Reopens with CHP Escort

INYO AND MONO COUNTIES – At approximately 6:30 am, U.S. Highway 395 reopened from Gorge Road just north of Bishop in Inyo County to the junction with State Route 203 (Mammoth Lakes) in Mono County. CHP will be escorting travelers northbound from Gorge Road to Tom’s Place and southbound from SR 203 (Mammoth Lakes) to Tom’s Place. State Route 203 (Mammoth Lakes) is open.

Chain controls are in place throughout the area, expect decreased speed limits and winter conditions.

US 395 remains closed in the following locations:

·      The northbound lanes between Coso Junction Safety Roadside Rest Area and the town of Olancha in Inyo County,

·      Between the junction with State Route 203 and Bridgeport in Mono County.

Caltrans will post updates on these closures to its social media channels on Twitter and Facebook.

Before you leave home, check Quickmap.dot.ca.gov to get the latest on road conditions, including chain control restrictions. You can also call the Road Condition Hotline at 1-800-427-ROAD (7623).

Because roads are slick, we ask that all drivers slow down and allow themselves plenty of time to reach their destinations safely. Caltrans also reminds drivers to move over for Caltrans crews, CHP, and other emergency vehicles. If you come across a snowplow on the highway, create enough space to keep yourself and our snowplow operators safe.
