Can you tell us about your background and how it led you to open Rosa’s Food?
I moved to Bishop nearly 30 years ago, where I worked at Taco Bell for ten years and later spent two years working at a local hotel. One day, I felt inspired to try something new. I started selling tamales from my bike, and to my surprise, people loved them! What began as a small venture quickly grew into something bigger. Soon, I was selling tamales seven days a week for over fifteen years.
Eventually, the opportunity came to buy a food truck, and that’s when my next chapter began. It has now been over 15 years of selling my tamales and famous green salsa, and I take pride in every batch I make.
What are some of your most popular menu items, and what do you think makes them stand out?
There’s something about the form and style of my tamales that seems to attract people, but I believe the secret ingredient is love and gratitude—people can taste it in every bite.
How do you source your ingredients, and why is that important to you?
I always seek out the most original ingredients and ideas for what I create because that final touch is what makes my tamales special.
What are your long-term goals for Rosa’s Food?
Continuing to participate in community events brings me so much joy. I love engaging with the people in my community, and I have fun doing it.
Lastly, where can we find you in the future?
You can find me at local events, the Farmers Market, and the Choo Choo Swap Meet with my Rosa’s Food Truck. I look forward to serving you!
A special thank you to Rosa for answering our questions!
