Spotlight On: Toshiko Casas and Gojira Ramen & Sushi

As part of our new series, we are interviewing people of interest in the area who are having a positive impact on our community.

This time, we reached out to Toshiko Casas, owner of Gojira Ramen & Sushi, to ask her about the new Bishop location!

How did you first gain interest in Godzilla?

When our son was little, we called him Godzilla because he was good at skateboarding and snowboarding. He was like fire always!

Do you have a favorite Godzilla movie?  Side note: I like the Millenium Era.

I love the 2014 Godzilla.

When did you first open Gojira and where?

Mammoth Lakes, CA, 2020.

What is your experience in the food service industry?

I worked as a food vendor for five years while working as a server for several years. I went to events in California and Nevada every weekend selling Japanese-style crepes and boba drinks.

Why did you open a location in Bishop?

I was born and grew up in Japan until I was 35 years old. And many customers came to our restaurant in Mammoth. And I wanted to open a little restaurant in Bishop to show everyone our real Japanese food.

We can also talk about any special you may have?

We do a lunch special at only the Bishop location. We have ramen combos that are popular. A small ramen and sushi set. The price is reasonable at $14.95. Another option is the teriyaki chicken plate for $13.95. Limited to Bishop only!

Thank you so much to Toshiko Casas for answering our questions.  You can find Gojia Ramen & Sushi at 1345 Rocking W. Drive, Bishop, CA  93514.
