Please tell us a little bit about B&B Advisors and what you do there?

At B&B Advisors, we specialize in tax preparation for high-net-worth individuals and small businesses, as well as comprehensive bookkeeping, payroll, and business consulting services. We take pride in offering transparent flat-rate pricing and year-round support designed to keep our clients audit-ready and financially organized.

Cory Barron, Enrolled Agent, leads the firm’s tax operations. As a federally licensed tax practitioner, he is authorized to represent clients before the IRS and brings years of experience from major tax firms, including Tally LLP in Orange, CA and Longcrier in San Luis Obispo, CA. Cory is a Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Business Alumni and focuses on advanced tax strategy, compliance, and client education.

Valerie Barron, MSW, oversees business operations, payroll, and consulting. With a master’s in social work specializing in management from Washington University in St. Louis, she brings a systems-focused approach to business planning and organizational efficiency. Valerie is an enrolled member of the Bishop Paiute Tribe and works closely with small businesses, nonprofits, and Tribal organizations to strengthen internal processes and ensure compliance.

Together, we built B&B Advisors to simplify financial management for business owners, combining professional tax expertise with practical, hands-on support that helps clients grow confidently and sustainably.

What types of clients do you typically serve? Are your services tailored more toward small businesses, independent contractors, or larger companies?

At B&B Advisors, we proudly serve a diverse client base, including small businesses, S-corporations, nonprofits, and individuals, ranging from independent contractors to high-net-worth professionals. We’re committed to community access and financial equity, and will be hosting our Free Tax Clinics on one weekend in February 2026 and one weekend in March 2026, offering complimentary filing support and guidance for qualifying low-income taxpayers.

Our ideal clients are those who value efficiency, clear communication, and modern systems. We operate primarily online and provide a secure client portal for document uploads, e-signature, and real-time updates. Because we run a fully digital practice, we work best with individuals and organizations comfortable with uploading and managing documents electronically. This approach keeps projects moving quickly and ensures that we can deliver timely, accurate results.

We believe professional service should fit within a balanced, organized workflow, one that respects both our clients’ time and ours.

Payroll can be a complex area for many business owners — what are some key ways B&B Advisors simplifies that process?

At B & B Advisors, we’ve streamlined payroll into a simple, reliable process. Our onboarding is quick and straightforward, clients provide their employee details and we take it from there. We manage federal and state filings, new hire reporting, and workers’ compensation compliance all in one place, ensuring accuracy and peace of mind. Our system includes a mobile timesheet app that allows employees to clock in and out directly from their phones, giving business owners real-time visibility and reducing paperwork. We also stay on top of state-specific updates, ensuring clients remain compliant year-round. Payroll packages start at $300 for up to two employees, and include secure email delivery of reports and filings. The result is a clean, organized system that lets business owners focus on their operations while we handle the technical details behind the scenes.

What do you think is the key to building long-term trust with clients when dealing with something as personal as their finances?

Building long-term trust starts with respect, clarity, and accountability. Because one member of our team comes from a social work background, we bring an added understanding of confidentiality, empathy, and clear communication to our client relationships. We make sure clients feel comfortable, informed, and supported when discussing something as personal as their finances. That means taking the time to explain complex information in plain language, maintaining transparency and responsiveness, and standing by our work. Trust isn’t built in a single meeting, it’s earned through reliability, consistency, and genuine care over time.
